Michael Blanchard book discussion
Join author and photographer Michael Blanchard as he discusses his photographic memoir, Through a Sober Lens: A Photographer’s Journey.
Author and photographer Michael Blanchard will discuss Through a Sober Lens: A Photographer’s Journey in a free book talk at the Old Whaling Church (please note the change in venue) as well as via Zoom. Winner of Gold Medal for Interior Book Design and Most Inspirational Book in the 2020 Benjamin Franklin Awards, Blanchard’s new book chronicles his journey from the depths of despair of alcoholism to a new life of contribution, connection and healing.
By blending photography and writing, Michael provides insight into the diseases of alcoholism and addiction and the pathways to recovery. In this collection of photographs and essays he shares stories of resilience, compassion and empathy, revealing how sobriety is more than the absence of alcohol; it’s the presence of love, hope, faith and contribution.
A book signing will follow the discussion and Edgartown Books will have copies of Blanchard’s books available for sale. A portion of all sales will be donated to Martha’s Vineyard Community Services in support of addiction treatment services on the Island.
This event is sponsored by Michael Blanchard Inspirational Photography and the Crossroads Gallery, Edgartown Books, and Vineyard Trust.
Admission is free, but advance registration is required. Zoom information will be provided with confirmation of registration. Contact The Carnegie at (508) 627-4440 x 118 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to register.
