Whatever you envision for your wedding ceremony, wedding reception, or pre- and post- wedding functions, Vineyard Preservation Trust landmarks offer unique and picturesque settings and come with the expertise of our year-round staff.

The following Vineyard Preservation Trust landmarks are available for wedding and reception rentals:

  • Old Whaling Church and Dr. Daniel Fisher House in Edgartown offer the in-town refinement of historic Edgartown with white picket fences spilling over with roses.
  • Union Chapel in Oak Bluffs, offers a stunning octagonal historic wedding chapel set in a lively seaside-resort town.
  • Grange Hall offers the perfect rustic chic experience in West Tisbury with its rich post and beam architecture.

Performance Venues

The Vineyard Preservation Trust is pleased to offer three exceptional historic landmark venues–Grange Hall, Old Whaling Church and Union Chapel–for your meeting, concert, dance performance, panel discussion, lecture or movie screening.

You are fully supported when you choose to house your function, meeting or event at a Vineyard Preservation Trust landmark. All performing arts venues are outfitted with theatrical lighting and basic sound systems, which are included in the fees.

Our technical director and event staff will work with you to provide additional coverage and technical equipment, at your expense, if needed. The island is a destination for the arts and we have access to a wide range of performance arts professionals for your event.

Please bear in mind that as our historic venues are located within neighborhood areas, they are subject to town noise restrictions which govern both the end times and types of sound that may be utilized.

Small Group Gatherings

Rental Policies

We provide a “space rental” only. You may choose your vendors from our list of preferred vendors, which includes tent and party rental companies, caterers, florists, photographers, etc. Your vendors will provide all needed equipment (tents, tables, chairs, table linens, china, glassware, flatware, etc.) and all staffing and food, beverages and decorations.

Timing (other than concerts):

The service of liquor and the music both must end promptly at 8:30 p.m. and the property cleaned up and vacated by 9:30 p.m. Guests shall depart the property by 9:00 p.m., allowing the final 30 minutes for the caterer to complete clean-up.

Music Policy:

We provide a list of musicians and bands that are approved to play at Trust properties. They are required to play with their instruments “unplugged” (without amplification). We provide the band with an upright, acoustic piano. Microphones are permitted for vocalists, announcements and toasts. Deejays and digital music devices are not permitted. Off-Island bands or Island bands not included on our list must be approved by Vineyard Trust. Music ends promptly at 8:30pm.

Food and Beverage:

You may choose your own caterer from our list of recommendations. You are not restricted to this list, but we require that your caterer be licensed and insured and that they communicate with the Board of Health Agent for the Town of Edgartown. Your caterer will provide the food and staffing for your event, including servers and bartenders. The catering staff will put furniture in place and complete the entire set up, including the bar. They also will clean up at the end of the event.

Additional event or venue specific policies may apply and will be reviewed as part of the reservation process.
