Historic Walking Tour of Edgartown

Step off from the Carnegie Heritage Center into the timeless character of Edgartown and its most iconic historic buildings. Led by Vineyard Preservation Trust educators, this 75-minute walking tour offers rare access to the Old Whaling Church, Daniel Fisher House, Vincent House, Norton Boat House and other treasured landmarks, bringing Island history vividly to life. A perfect way to experience the heart of Edgartown’s historic district.

Independence On Foot

Led by historian Norah Van Riper, Independence on Foot is a spirited walking tour exploring Martha’s Vineyard’s revolutionary past. Beginning at the Vincent House Museum, this 90-minute walking tour connects Edgartown sites, stories, and civic ideals – bringing the Island’s role in the American Revolution and its independent spirit to life. Participating families receive a Presidents for Kids activity book.

Collections Tour

A Peek Inside the Old Whaling Church

Join a guided immersive tour into the whimsical, symbolic, and imaginative work of Island artist Margot Datz. This 60-minute tour begins at the Carnegie Heritage Center and continues to the Old Whaling Church, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how Datz researched, interpreted, and recreated Carl Wendte’s long-lost 1843 murals.
