Historic Walking Tours
Explore the maritime heritage, architectural and literary history of Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard in three guided walking tours.
Offered between early July and Columbus Day of 2020, these tours tell the unique story of Martha’s Vineyard through the Trust’s landmark historic buildings.
Architectural Walking Tour–Season Ends October 10
Starting at The Carnegie, this 90-minute tour winds its way through the commercial core of Edgartown; making stops at the 1703 John Coffin House, the Village Green, the Vincent House of 1672, the resplendent Dr. Daniel Fisher House & Gardens, and the Old Whaling Church. Along the way we will discover the architectural styles that made Edgartown such a gem, consider the town’s storied past, and imagine what it may have been like to live in days of yore.
Tuesday through Saturday at 10:30am

Edgartown Harbor Tour–Season Ends October 6
This 45-minute tour begins at The Carnegie and highlights three of the Trust’s iconic maritime properties, the Osborne Wharf Building, Norton Boathouse, and Old Sculpin Gallery.
Journey from the days of whaling and commerce, to the rise of the resort community and leisure watercraft, and then return to contemporary life and the enduring impact of maritime trades on the island today.
Tuesday through Friday at 12:30pm.

Literary Edgartown Walking Tour–Season Ends October 6
Discover Edgartown’s literary heritage from Herman Melville and Frederick Douglass to Oompa Loompas and a big red dog in a two-hour walking tour hosted by Vineyard Trust. Together we will visit historic sites and architectural gems that both inspired and housed artists, writers, and orators of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Tuesday through Friday at 2:00pm.
Tickets: $18/Adult, $12/Senior, $7/Child
Tickets may be purchased the day of the tour and can be acquired at The Carnegie.
Tickets are sold on a first come, first serve basis. Space is limited to only nine participants, so we recommend parties arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled starting time to purchase tickets or contact email@example.com to reserve your ticket in advance.
Our walking tours start at The Carnegie, which is located at 58 North Water Street, Edgartown.
